Paintings, Paintings, and more Paintings

We had a great time at church today and I have more paintings to exhibit for the painters who paint at Prayer, Paint and Pie....

Betty Jo Yommer completed two pieces, a beautiful rose  that could just jump off the canvas...and a dogwood flower that was as impressive as a real dogwood flower....will post these next Wednesday.

Enjoy:  k

Mrs. Dot Armstrong almost completed her rooster with watercolor....she has an amazing ability to colorize her paintings......this is truly a palette to enjoy.  Thanks Mrs. Dot

Claudia finished her waterfall over stones , you can almost feel the cool water spraying in the breeze...what a remarkable piece of water flowing.

This was an experiment by Claudia, she painted pieces then arranged them into a collage...this was her first piece and I expect not her last.

This was a collage by Miss Lynn (Claudia's granddaughter)....a colorful heart, full of light much like Miss Lynn herself.  Thanks for this Lynn.  Ms. K

I shared a book with Lynn and she picked this rooster to do.  I think this painting could be the beginning of a book to be written by Lynn.  A rooster that loves to paint himself.....see what  you can do with that Miss Lynn.  Love Ms.  K

Betsy and structure, I just love it.  She has movement, light, and a place for me to hang my hat....what a quaint place of quiet living.

Claudia finished this piece after she painted the water into its boundary as God did when He created the oceans.....this is a remarkable piece of God's art....the place we live, breath and share ourselves.  I love the colors, the trees and especially the sky....light everywhere.

Last Wednesday Claudia embarked on a study of watercolor.  This was the first time I believe she enjoyed the flowing of the water and the shape of the product.  You go girl.....keep it up, practice, studies will create within you a confidence to continue deep into the life of the living watercolor.

Betsy's stones....make me want to shed those shoes and walk in the cool water of Montana.......the trees, the light, the quiet respect of PEACE....just listen to the pooling waters and know that you are home.

A stark desert scene, shadows wonderful, the simplicity of the scale of this painting is absolutely full of music......as you walk you see the blue, green, brown, dark brown and it speaks of stillness.....just the Eagle floating above....calling out to the sky and thanking Father Sky for the endless freedom of flight.   I delight in the vision of this piece.  Thank you Claudia.

Rooster, Rooster burning bright, Claudia did this piece with soft oil pastels....the picture itself felt like material floating on canvas.  Enjoy this one up close.

One of Claudia's first pieces.....Angels everywhere.....see the dimension difference.

A Montana piece by a river with a tee pee...and totem buffaloes on the skin of the tee pee.  This came out of Claudia's creativity and I was impressed....again,  thanking God for such wonderful expressions from all the painters.

Special birds from Claudia.

The bark on this stump, the Cardinal, the moment the bird realizes he is wonderfully made and will be fed by God.....oh to be a bird, and know we are safe, loved and cared for......Love from God.

This was the first picture Claudia completed, a light sunflower that spoke in the intensity of the stroke.....I think I can and sure enough she could...Congratulations Claudia

An owl on board, created to enhanced the studio on Claude Banks Road......special address for a special painting by Claudia.

A planter of flowers and a background that accented the color of sunshine.....love it.....painted by Claudia

At last but not least....God and His paintbrush last night just before dark.  The little dots of white looked like faces looking down on us and saying we are here waiting, caring, praying for all who will join us because you have also accepted Christ ..........we are just a few breaths away from the most beautiful clouds and in those clouds we will rise one day to meet Him in the sky.....so thank you God for the peak into our future....hold us in the hollow of Your hand as you teach us to be more like you all the days we are here.  Love k

Wednesday, July 11th Class

Yesterday was a great day at Prayer, Paint and Pie.....

We focused on the horizon line, light and shadows......and you can see from the painting posted below the class is moving forward.

There was quite a discussion yesterday about the flow of paint, the fact your painting sometimes helps you if you take some time to focus on your painting and how it may morf on the canvas or paper you are drawing on or painting on.  The exchange between the brain, hand, heart and God's help is amazing.  It is exciting when we hold up a painting and look at it as a group,  understanding that every stroke from you and God is a special gift.  The paint brush is an extension between  you and the medium......and that extension tool cannot always be controlled, so when we give it to God, He makes sure we learn something each time.......thank you class for a wonderful time yesterday.

Betty Jo Yommer completed this garden piece "Gazing Ball" the color structure is exquisive and the leaves in the corners are remarkable.....you could imagine sitting in a lawn chair watching the colors change and the sky roll by.  Great piece.

Greenie.....by Claudia Henley

A beautiful piece by Mary Thomas......this piece has a sentimental value the more you look at it, the more you see the light traveling with the grandfather and son.

One week we all did humming birds this is Betsy's.....notice the background and the bird a simple piece, but very warming.

A beautiful barn by Betsy....the photograph of the painting is beautiful....in person the water oil painting is stunning.

Claudia did this wagon wheel and worked on a very minimal palette, then she added an opposite on the color wheel....that made the whole piece pop.

Betsy worked on this watery scene and let her brush and water just flow.  It is mesmerizing...thank you Betsy.

Will post in 2 weeks what was done.....thanks for reading.  k

More Student Paintings

Claudia Henley "Forest Bark"  Scratch board

Betty Jo Yommer "Flower in Field"  this was painted on a board the sky, sun, field are all illuminated with light, wonderful piece.

"Praying Hands" Scratch board by Betty Jo Yommer

This is a childhood memory of Betsy Dobson.  This is her mountain "Chief".  She painted this from memory, notice the shadows and the levels of the mountain with the hills and trees protecting the mountain.  The cloud looks to me like an Eagle flying over...a symbol of America.  Cool Beans Betsy....love the colors, shadows, misty clouds and the amazing perspective.

The watercolor was completed by Dot Armstrong.  She has completed two pictures in our Pie, Prayer and Paint sessions and has amazed us all.  She is 92. Congratulations Ms. Armstrong, glad to have you with us.

This is a first piece in our workshop by Sharon Rouse.  She is just beginning.  I was amazed at the structure of the chair, the placement in the corner and the straw seat....it looked like we could sit in it.  Glad to have you with us.......

As you can see, we have all levels of painters, and most of all we have seasoned prayer warriors with us also.  God is good all the time.  Thank you all for your work, prayers and friendship.

Claudia Henley's Art

Claudia is a photographer and I believe she has trained her eye to see what isn't seen which help her in her newly acquired hobby "Painting".  I am impressed with her work and look forward to many more pieces to exhibit in the future.

Watercolor....one of her first also a study in perspective.

I asked the class to work on a building, which showed perspective, this piece was very impressive.....it looks 3 D congrats Claudia.

This is one of my favorites...bluebirds on rocks......they seem to be greeting the morning and I find myself looking forward to their day.....total freedom.

I have a copy of this in my art room.  Again I love birds and this little bird looks like he has a meeting with God.....a tree top experience.  How amazing.

This was a piece Claudia amazed herself....she had not painted grass, and she repositioned the bird herself....then the background.....peace....how wonderful.

This was a concrete piece for the garden....some pieces looked just like flowers....so when winter comes there will always be flowers.

These turkeys are amazing.....she even talked with a hunter in their family asking for a critique and the hunter said .....realistic.  Do you see the water in the background and the trees that echo in the water.  Sometimes art cannot be held back and this is definitely an example of that.

She has been painting for about 5 months......I hope she paints for the rest of her life.  Her mother, Dot Armstrong has two pieces I am sure they will add to this blog.  She is 92 and painted her first piece a few weeks ago.

Art accepts us all...no matter the age, experience or view of oneself....pick up a brush and see what happens....look on the Internet find a picture you love.  Remember to keep it simple, narrow palette (3 colors) and watch yourself go......If you do something you would like to share email me at awewinds@aol.com.
