Sept 19th and Sept 26th Postings

Today art was wonderful, prayer, singing and painting.  We have a special request for prayer for Cathy Horvath she is in the hospital and needs our prayers for a full recovery.  Thank you...

Today was a day to thank God and praise God for health.....Cathy is a dear dear friend to all of us and we want to praise God for a complete healing for our dear sister in Christ.

Claudia, Betty Jo, Harold and I were the only ones at paint today and some very interesting paintings came about.

This flower exhibit was created by Betty Jo as a warm up session.  the flowers look real and the wood enhances the completed beautifully painted flowers.

This next picture was the most beautiful today:  by Betty Jo Yommer

She used some powdered paint and the illusive colors are breathtaking.  Congratulations Betty Jo.

This portrait was completed by Harold Pickett.  He is new to our group and is doing an outstanding job.  He said on his first visit he wanted to work on portrait painting.....wow...this was a first try.  Go Harold.

A beautiful flying bird by Claudia...I couldn't wait to put this on the blog.  She is still working on it, but I loved the wings, body and the speed I see in this picture.

Another pictures by Claudia.  Hummingbirds....I love the air around the birds and the action that occurs on the cork.  It is a beautiful realistic pictures of our precious gifts from God.

This is a portrait by Grace, our youngest member, and as you can see very talented, a closed eye picture full of emotion and depth.  Thanks Grace.

This plaque was completed by Betty Jo Yommer and she sold it in a craft show for Eastern Star.  Way to go Betty job....and this was free handed.

A new member, Carolyn Mills.....drew and painted this very impressionist version of a humming bird.  This is an amazing piece, she walked in, got settled, picked up a brush and beauty appeared.  Thanks for sharing Carolyn.

This bird was Harold's first picture.  I love the pallet, the actual structure of the bird.  Harold is so poised as he paints...you can see his eyes, hands and brain all working together to created beauty.  Thanks Harold.

This picture was painted and drawn by Caroline Pickett.  She captured the tentative posture of the bird and illustrated the resting posture of the bird.  Beautiful palette Caroline...thanks.

I personally have been painting with Grace on a barn on Middle Road and McDaniel Ford.  If you get a chance to come by and say  hello, enjoy the view.  Polly Mason has graciously let us paint some tobacco barns on the "Shell Station. "  Thanks Polly, eventually the whole structure will be painted with memories of her family's farm.   Harrison, her grandson, is also helping with the painting.  Polly  has painted and Harrison will be doing some again also.

Anyone is invited to come and paint with us on Wednesdays from 11:00 to 2pm.  Bring your supplies something you would love to paint and watch what happens when the group gets together to help each other produce what we know God has put in all of us...talent to be used for Him.

In our Bible study on Tuesday, Isaiah 43 was the chapter we reviewed.  Pastor Bettie asked why God created us and the answer was for his pleasure.  Praise for God is His pleasure....so remember to praise, praise our Father for we were wonderfully and marvelously made by Him.  Praise be to God.

Stand up for God, for He stood us for us on the cross "Jesus"....thanks be to God.  k

Creative Pieces on 8/5/2012

This week we came to Prayer, Paint and Pie with a heart of expectancy for Bud Morton.  He is a most dear friend of ours and as I write this blog our hearts and minds rest in the verse we memorized this week.  "Be of good cheer, it is I, do not be afraid  Mark 6:51"  ....so we stood on this Bible verse and are still standing.  Tomorrow in church we should hear some more good news.....and we will continue to believe he will be better.  Thank you Jesus!

Prayer is a large part of our group and this week we missed Sharon Rouse...she will be back.  Betty Jo, Claudia, Betsy, Mary , Betty, Grace and me....Ms. Dot was with Susan and we missed her this past week.

As you know our Artisan SHOWOFF is October 6th.  All Jones County artisans and their families (no matter where they live are invited also.)  The plan is to share art of the ages....anything piece of art, woodworking, sewing, crocheting and knitting...come and bring your art that you have stored and share with the generations to come.

I have neglected to post some pictures from the weeks before the 5th so here are some that were painted prior to our last meeting.  Enjoy!

Sharon Rouse used graphite and some pastel on this beautiful eagle.  She is a novice, but it doesn't show in this beautifully constructed drawing.  Good job! Some people were meant to be artists!

This piece is a collage...she chose the colors and I love the design....something to expand and practice in the future.  Keep it going Sharon.

A watercolor by Sharon, one of her first paintings.  I may have posted  before but I took a second look and saw a great deal of potential.

This is a colorful, realistic Luna Moth.  Great job Betty Jo.....I love the texture and the exactness of your drawing...then on top of that your colors were magnificent.  Thank you.

I am not sure who did this painting, but one of the group did this, maybe Lynn?  Will find out and label next time we post.

This is a Sunflower in progress by Betty.  This was the first time she has painted and I look forward to seeing this finished.

This was an assignment to use graphite in the entire drawing and Claudia did it, and boy did she do it...this was wonderfully constructed and a creative passionate tree.  More to come.

This is an amazing portrait of someone we know, Mary Thomas used graphite to capture the expression of the picture used.  Wonderful hair and love the shadowing.  Would love to see more portraits.....there is clarity and personality in this one.

A painting by Claudia....she has been working on sky transitions and as you will see later this is the beginning of great things.  Love the colors and the sky.

A most beautiful rose painted by Betty Jo......there is nothing to say about perfection...Congratulations Betty!

Another flower from Betty Jo.  The Dogwood and the capture of its blossom in mid air...Love it.

Betty used a domed butterfly to express her exquisite drawing skills, and the colors are so true to the form iteself....  Skills are great!

Beautiful fish by Betty Jo.  An amazing amount of movement expressed in this painting.  Color, design and action are exciting.

Betsy working on sky, mountains, lake, perspective....oh what a hard working and successful process...Will see more from this artist later.  I want to be standing under the trees smelling the cool air of Montana.  Yes!

Claudia created a sky that is amazing.  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  Genesis 1:1  Proof positive....thanks for reminding us with this beautiful light filled painting.

A week ago we all worked on glass projects...this is Claudia's butterfly.....the colors and structure are beautiful.

Betsy worked on cork this last week and created a beach scene with a minimal palette......who wouldn't want to be on that beach with the water and the sky empowering beauty.
 To God be the glory.

One of the ponies on the outer banks.....by me.

An unfinished raccoon, by Betty.  She has added such passion in those eyes....she plans to surround the raccoon with leaves of different colors.  You will see this re posted.  What an amazing expression of love.....she is starting to enjoy painting as we see in this picture.  Good job!

Claudia playing around on cork, but the amazing abstract looks like  - the song "Lord of the Dance".....if only we could relax and praise God as these colors and lines are mastering movement....Spiritual and relaxing....

The final piece of the day was amazing.  Grace worked on cork.  As you  notice the right wing looks different than the left wing.  She painted the left wing on glass and the body of the butterfly and right wing was painted on the cork.  Some of the leaves were started on the glass then some were painted under the glass on cork.  In person it shows such great depth......a beautiful inspiring butterfly......by a wonderful artist.

Betty Jo and Mary Thomas have two pieces to share next week, I failed to photo before they left.....so bring them back and I will post.

Thanks for checking out the beautiful art work and know prayer changes things.....

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Phillipians 4:13

These paintings are proof positive that God is in everything we do......thanks be to God.

July 29, Wednesday

Wow what a group project today.

Our memory verse for the day is:

I can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me.  Philippians 4:13.

Mary Thomas explained to me that Christ is the most important part of this verse.  I totally understood because we often think we do things by ourselves, but when we impart our gifts it is truly a moment with God.  That Spirit comes through and we offer this world a peek into what God has to offer.  I believe the hands used today brought in a piece of Christ who strengthens us and teaches us to flow with His Spirit.
=======================================================================

This is a three D painting on glass prepared by Claudia.  It is remarkably designed and you can feel the roundness of the light house, the clouds in the background just beckon you to come out into the sunshine and enjoy the day.

This is oil on canvas.  A very spiritual picture of rocks and a hill with a darkened sky.  The rocks are reflected in the lake below, and as you can see the lake mirrors back buffalo who once roamed on those hills....Claudia is of  American Indian decent....this is exquisite.
 Thanks you for sharing Claudia.

The Living Owl.....such a remarkable piece completed by Grace.  She is new to Jones County, the youngest of our group....talented and humble.  This is a magnificent piece it will make beautiful prints.....

Betsy's piece...an outstanding use of complimentary colors, blue, purple, white yellow, green, the delicate application of paint made this look like a stained glass window.  Congratulation Betsy, first painting on glass! yahoo.

Betty Francis, our new pastor at Trenton United Methodist Church, completed her first glass piece also.  I love the movement and color used.  This piece has been adopted to be use by our after school program this year-  titled "Praise The Lord".
She has been a wonderful participant in our group both spiritually and talented.
This piece will be used on the workers T-shirts.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece it is full of wonderful energy.

Betty Jo and Sharon were not here this Wednesday, but Sharon and Betty Jo are working on pieces that will be posted next time.

Remember "I can do all thing through CHRIST who strengthens me.  Philippians 4:13".....so pick up a brush, find an old piece of wood, locate a personal picture or something in nature that you would like to capture and go for it.

Bless you all...until we unite again.  k
