Student Paintings

Betty Jo Yommer has just given me permission to add some of her work over the past few months.

This was one of her first paintings....showing shadow and structure.

This was a live painting, light, texture and color.

Betty Jo loves cats.

This was a scratch board piece.  This was Betty's first try at scratch board and the hummingbird eye is exquisite.  The feathers, the posture is remarkable.  Way to go Betty Jo.

This watercolor is of a church window in Trenton...The Lost Coin....Betty has an infinity for detail in this piece.

Another cat, but the temperature of the paint, and posture of the body definitely reminds me of a cat in the jungle.  Sunlight hits one side and shadow the other.....

The art team is practicing a new mini mural for Bud Morton, our retired pastor, and I have asked them to practice hummingbirds and flowers.  Since the class has joint leaders, I was inspired at Picking and Grinning last night to practice a graphite hummingbird.  I have attached it.

Looking forward to tomorrows art class....we have some new people coming and I can't wait to see what God has in store for their art projects.  k

More Student Painting

I last posted I would add more pictures.....here are some from Betsy Armstrong Dodson.  Claudia has taken pictures of her sister's work and her are some of her best.  She is a very talented artist.

This is a church window in Trenton.  The Lost Coin....a window in time.....

This is one of Betsy's first charcoal drawings.....amazing perspective.

She loves barns and loves to paint them.

This is another barn and the first time Betsy was able to paint a tree with shadow and snow, and check out the fence, illustrated beautifully.

This is a picture I could stare at forever......our true home is in the sky.......beautifully created in watercolor.

Betsy's first mountain.  She has worked on Chief Mountain, a mountain in Montana....equally as lovely.

Check out the fence, tree and the shadows of the barn.  As we are all students of art, it is wonderful to see these beginning students learn to lay paint and emotion ......truly a gift from God.

Thanks to Betsy, Claudia, Ann, Mary, Betty Jo, and Betty Heath for sharing their art with me and now you.

This Wednesday we meet again....so keep looking for more new on this blog.  K

Recent Painting from Students

Each week you will find more student paintings exhibited here.   We are in the process of finishing the church mural this week.  Claudia, Betsy, Ann, Mary, Betty Jo and hopefully some guests today will all take time to paint on the walls at the church in a Sunday School room at the Methodist Church in Trenton.

Next week we will be finalizing the Angel in the Prayer Garden behind the church for a dedication on June 24th.  Also our Prayer Garden will be dedicated to Melony Mills on this day.  She was an example of Faith for us all.  We miss you Melony......and know you are in Jesus' arms.

The scratch board below illustrated a pansy......Mary had not used tools to scratch out a pictures before...this was so easy for her to do, she enjoyed it and the rest of the group enjoyed it also.....this piece was photographed by Claudia Henley and I will replace my photo with hers so you can get the full affect of the strokes and structure of Mary's art.

The roses were also painted by Mary Thomas.  The illustrated drawing is very well composed and designed.  The colors were so vibrant it felts like I could smell the roses and feel their peace.  One of Mary's first pieces.

This is a glass painting by K. Rowland, I was trying out some new glass paint, and did two pieces for our porch.  We had end tables so I just added a glass piece under the already existing glass with some colored beads.  It makes the porch more festive.

This painting was completed by Betty Jo Yommer.  I will change the layout when I have more time....but the bowl and light in this painting is absolutely stunning.

This is another scratchboard that had color added to it.

This piece was completed by Ann Waller.  This was the first time she had tried scratch board and she elected to add color also.  You can see the initial in the scratches and the vines running through the piece...which makes it alive and just fun to experience.  Nice job Ann.

This is a piece that is not finished yet, and I hope Mary does not mind me posting....it shows how the structure of color and shading creates the under painting of a piece that will illustrate movement within the painting. I look forward to the finished piece of a grandfather and son walking in the woods and I can image they are talking and sharing wisdom that would not be shared if the walk had not happened.  Mary keep up the good work.

This piece was an experiment by Claudia Henley.  She took a piece of glass sprayed it with blackboard chalk paint and began to scratch a fish on one side and then painted the reverse side with yellow acrylic....and look what happened.  She is in the process of refining this and we will see some creative things in the future.  This is amazing in the light, it looks like a fish under water.  Claudia owns Airframes and Art on Claude Banks road....she is an accomplished photographer, framer and now a student of art.....

Betsy Dodson is one wonderful artist and she has many paintings and drawings that will be posted next week.  I don't have any pictures in que and will work on that.....she is amazing.  So look forward to seeing some of her work soon.

All things are possible with God.....and these students are experiencing His blessings along with me.  Have a blessed week.  k
